Today we had our first presentation of our bachelor thesis. We presented our task and talked about how we were going to work in the next months. We got valuable feedback from the internal and external sensor, and we have taken those notes into consideration as we moved forward. This presentation was held in Kongsberg.
To maintain peace of mind (😉), we went for an overnight cabin trip. During this trip, we enjoy each other’s presence, fished at the iced lake and enjoyed the sun.

The force test, among others, is completed and documented. The picture below shows how we configured the test setup. We consider the test results as great and promising for further development in the project.
We booked a meeting at Optime Subsea to discuss our test results with Rubem and John. The restrictions regarding covid 19 are no longer so strict in Kongsberg, as the infection pressure has decreased. Therefore, all group members were gathered at the meeting at Optime Subsea. We discussed the results we had gathered from the testing we have done, and the path forward to our project deadline. We got valuable feedback and inspiration for further concept development.
We found some surface defects after obtaining the injector from Optime, and we used a microscope to examine the damage more closely. A image from the microscope can be seen to the left. This is the product of corrosion.
The purpose of this test is to see if the melting point of the object is below or above 1000 degrees Celsius (°C). This will give us valuable knowledge which could be used to filter out materials with known melting points.
A galvanization test was conducted to see whether we could determine the material's nobility.
