Skidding and transit

  • For a number of offshore operations, heavy subsea equipment (too large to be carried or lifted by crane) needs to be transported from one location to another on the vessels. This activity and operational phase is called skidding, see Figure 1. When the equipment is not being skidded nor operated subsea it is parked in an appropriate location on the vessel, usually with some additional posibility of sea fastening. This operational phase is called transit.
